About Me

Hej Hej, I'm Sirhc,

I'm a freelance film maker, food stylist, and home chef.

I am located in Minneapolis, Minnesota where I live with my partner and our Dog, Sméagol Beagle and our Cat, Mosebacke.  I studied film production, design, and advertising in college.  As an artist i do Mixed Media Paintings and Mosaics, and of course i am heavy in The Culinary Arts.  For work i do a mix of Freelance Film Production and Food Styling, Web Design and Management,  and a couple days a week in a Restaurant.  Being cross industry gives me So Much flexibility and inspiration, as well as time and space to live life how I want.

I love to cook when I travel, so I want to help you cook when you travel!

I grew up in Fargo, ND and every year my parents took my three brothers and I on a summer road trip, usually hopping in the mini-van with a pull behind trailer.  We typically set off for some new locale we hadn’t visited before.  We would often take 2-3 week trips that covered a number of cites and states. By the time I turned 18 I had visited about two thirds of the US and 12 European Countries.

But a family of 6 traveling for 2-3 weeks can get rather expensive, (though I didn’t understand this at the time) so my parents would really limit our eating out.  We would do a mix of Picnicking, BBQing, Cooler Lunches, Cooking Some Meals for ourselves and the occasional treat of Eating in a Restaurant.

I find that when I am on the road, I want to live as much like a local as possible.

I didn’t really realize it until my 20’s, but the ways my parents traveled with us as children had quite aprofound impacted on the way I travel now as an adult.  I prefer my trips to be extended travel (ideally a month+) and I aim for accommodations where I am able to prepare the majority of my meals for myself.  Now when I’m on the road I look for some sort of kitchen or cook space, and try to locate myself near a market or grocer.

Some of the richest culture is found in the seemingly mundane simplicity of our day to day rituals we take for granted.

Like Shopping for the Food we buy and Cooking a nourishing Meal to Sustain ourselves.

When Covid-19 hit, I became underemployed and had a lot of time on my hands. Unable to Travel, I started doing Arm Chair Travel and Travel Research.                 Able to Cook, I started Cooking Everyday, Much More Frequently than ever Before. With a need for a New Creative Outlet, Picnic on a Passport was Born.

Combining my love of Cooking and Travel to help others realize that they too can easily cook for themselves while on a trip sounded like a job I really want to take on. So I have!
